Donor Spotlight

We had the privilege of sitting down with Kroger’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Sparkle Anderson. Here’s what she had to share regarding impactful community projects, Kroger’s commitment to end hunger and our upcoming partnership.

1. What is the ultimate goal of Kroger’s Zero Hunger, Zero Waste Initiative?

Our social impact plan is Kroger’s commitment to end hunger in communities we serve and ultimately eliminate waste by 2025. Our partnership with Hester House is definitely an opportunity to continue on that course.

2. Kroger has been achieving such dynamic impact across local communities. What are you most proud of Kroger accomplishing thus far?

There are so many great things happening for the Kroger family and partnering communities and organizations to be proud of. To name a few:

We recently purchased a mobile food unit in Montgomery Co. to expand the availability of fresh produce to families in need.

We’ve also worked with Meals on Wheels (at Interfaith Ministries) to purchase a unit that allows them to increase the amount of meals delivered to seniors.

The last one I’ll mention is our Urban Harvest partnership program where we’ve adopted community and school gardens.

3. What about Hester House inspires you and ignites your desire to partner with us?

I volunteered here, at a community holiday party sponsored in part by CenterPoint. It was so rewarding to be amid so much energy and see the excitement from gift recipients. I know good work is being done here and I’m excited that Kroger can be a part of it.

Stay tuned for more news on our partnership with Kroger and our exciting new programs launching this fall!
